Our stay at Mengo Palace was fantastic! We got great value for our money with spacious and clean rooms. The location was convenient, close to the beach and metro station. The staff treated us like family, always friendly and helpful.
The breakfast menu could be improved by better labeling the pastries to distinguish between sweet and savory options.

We liked the fact that there was a separate shower and jacuzzi. The breakfast was good, and the room service was great (and decent for the price - pizza for two for r$18, enough picanha for two people for r$30 -- the picanha for two was way too much for the two of us, but the smaller portion was perfect for sharing!). The bed was comfortable enough.
The only thing we really disliked was the fact that our suite's key broke in the lock (as they use the old fashioned keys instead of the newer magnetic strip or rfid keys) while we were trying to open it for room service one night, and the manager tried to tell us to wait for hte next morning before they would let us out. The only reason we were let out that night was the guy from room service wanted to make sure we got our food and dragged him up. When the manager did come, he had a huge attitude about how inconveniencing it was that we had him unlock our room at that time of night.

We had a fantastic time staying at Mengo Palace Hotel. The location was perfect, with easy access to the metro, bus station, and Flamengo beach. It allowed us to explore Rio like locals and immerse ourselves in the Brazilian culture. The hotel staff, especially Jacynto, Jacunto, Josemar, Douglas. Despite our language barrier, they made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to assist us throughout our stay. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding, offering a variety of fresh fruits, proteins, juices, and pastries to kickstart our day. we had a memorable experience and would definitely recommend staying at Mengo Palace Hotel.

We enjoyed particularly good and unbeatable location of this place.
We stayed for vacation and would stay here again. Overall the room was reasonably large with the bedroom, a large perfect bed and balcony. The employees were outstandingly accommodating and amicable.

the location of this hotel is great as it is very close to Flamengo beach and conveniently located near a subway station. This made it very easy for me to explore the city and enjoy the beautiful beach.
All in all, I had a fantastic stay at this hotel and there was nothing that I felt needed improvement.

The very personal attention accorded to me and the way they took care of me.I was in Rio for 8 to attend a conference and due to all hotels being full, prior to my arrival I had only confirmed reservations for days 1-2 at Mengo Palace and days 4-5 at another hotel. Not only were they able to find me a hotel for the rest of the days but they were able to negotiate for me the same rate at that hotel, despite the rqte there being about 50% more than Mengo Palace. Not only that, they were very obliging whenever I asked their help or advise and their services were very personalized,I felt very safe and secure in their hands. They also kept my luggage for me for nealy 6 hours after I checked out.
Only few staff members spoke English, with the exception being the boss, who was fluent in her English. However, this is not a surprise because only a few people in Brazil spoke or understood English,so no surprises there.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel! First of all, the value for money was excellent. The prices were very reasonable and affordable, especially considering the great location. The hotel is right across from the beautiful Flamengo beach, which was perfect for a leisurely stroll or a relaxing day by the sea. I also appreciated the fact that the hotel is close to a metro station, making it easy to explore other parts of the city. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the basic amenities provided were more than satisfactory. The room was comfortable and had a large, perfect bed, along with a balcony that offered a lovely view. Finally, the breakfast served at this hotel was delicious, with a good selection of fresh fruits and other options to choose from.
All was great, nothing to complain about!

The staff were very pleasant and helpful,in spite of limited English. Ideal location near to Metro, shops, and the lovely Flamengo beach and Park. More of a Brazilian feel than at the more famous beaches. Very good breakfast with a wide choice. The more expensive room was spacious, with a little dining area.
As with all nearby hotels, there are no good views.
